By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it, and “you” includes that organization.
The contract between you and us is concluded when you sign in for the first time. We don’t keep an individual copy of it for you, but the current Terms are published at this address and you can save or print them. The contract language is English.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you are. You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so by applicable law, or if we have previously closed your account for breaking these Terms. If we learn that a user is under 18, we may close the account.
- You sign in with a third-party sign-in provider (such as Google) or another method we offer. Your use of that provider is subject to its terms.
- Give us accurate information and keep your email address up to date.
- You are responsible for activity under your account, including actions taken by AI agents, apps and bots you connect, unless it results from our breach of these Terms or of the law. Keep your sign-in, devices and keys secure, and tell us at [email protected] straight away if you suspect unauthorized use.
- Accounts are personal. Don’t share, sell or transfer yours.
hejj is currently provided free of charge. We may improve it over time, so we may add, change, limit or remove features for valid reasons, such as security, legal requirements, technical changes, abuse prevention or low use. If a change significantly and negatively affects your use of the Service, we will tell you in advance, and you may end the contract by deleting your account. Features labeled experimental may change or end at any time. We may set and change reasonable limits, such as storage, the number of boards and items, file sizes, request rates and connections.
We may introduce paid features in the future. You will only be charged if you agree to pay.
We don’t promise that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend it for maintenance, security or reasons outside our control. If we discontinue the Service, we will give you reasonable notice where possible.
You own it
You keep all rights to the links, notes, files, messages and other material you add to the Service (“Your Content”). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to operate, and secure the Service for you, to deliver it to the people and services you choose, and as described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for it
You are solely responsible for Your Content and for having the rights you need to add it, including when it contains personal data about other people (for example in notes, calendar events or messages). We don’t review Your Content before it is stored and have no general obligation to monitor it, but we may remove or restrict access to content that we reasonably believe breaks these Terms or the law, as described in section 8.
Keep your own copies
No system is perfect. The Service is not a backup service: keep copies of anything important, for example with the export in the menu. Our responsibility for loss of Your Content is set out in section 15.
Content from the web
When you save a link, hejj may display the website’s title, description and icon. Those belong to their owners. Websites, feeds and services you link to are not under our control and we are not responsible for them.
You agree not to use the Service to, or to help anyone else to:
- break any law or infringe anyone’s rights, including intellectual property and privacy rights;
- store or send content that is illegal, sexually exploits minors, promotes terrorism or violence, is hateful, harassing or threatening, or that you don’t have the right to share;
- send spam, unsolicited messages, scams, phishing, malware or other harmful code;
- harass, intimidate, impersonate or deceive other people, or collect their information without permission;
- probe, scan, overload or disrupt the Service or any website, for example by using monitoring, link or feed features to send unwanted traffic to sites you don’t own or aren’t authorized to monitor;
- get around security, access controls, rate limits or quotas, or access accounts or data that aren’t yours;
- scrape, copy or reverse engineer the Service, except where the law expressly allows it, or use it to build a competing product;
- use the Service as general-purpose file hosting or to distribute content publicly; or
- resell or provide the Service to others without our written permission.
- Be respectful. You are responsible for the messages, pictures and BUZZes you send. Only message people who want to hear from you, and never send sexual content to anyone who hasn’t asked for it.
- Hejj IDs are public names. Anyone who knows or guesses yours can see your display name and picture and, unless you turn requests off, send you a contact request, so don’t use either to reveal personal information. Don’t choose an ID that impersonates someone, misleads people or infringes rights. We may reserve, reclaim or change IDs that break these Terms, and some names are reserved.
- Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Don’t use Messenger for highly sensitive information. We don’t monitor conversations. We access message content only where a participant reports or forwards it to us, or where the law requires or permits it.
- Conversations are shared between their participants. If either participant deletes their account, the conversation is deleted for both. Export your chat history if you want to keep it. Exports include messages from the people you chat with: use them only for personal purposes and in line with the law.
- Messenger includes an official contact for the hejj team, which can’t be removed. We will never ask for your password, sign-in codes or agent keys in Messenger. Treat anyone else claiming to be hejj as a scam and report them. We aim to reply to messages sent to the team, but can’t guarantee a reply or a response time.
- We don’t guarantee that messages, BUZZes or online status will be delivered, delivered on time, or kept. Messenger is not a substitute for emergency services.
- You can ignore people and turn off contact requests at any time. To report someone, see section 8.
Anyone can report content or behavior they believe is illegal or breaks these Terms by emailing [email protected]. Please include:
- why you believe it is illegal or breaks these Terms;
- where it is, for example the Hejj ID involved and roughly when it was sent, and the content itself if you can share it;
- your name and email address (not needed for reports of child sexual abuse material); and
- a statement that you believe in good faith that your report is accurate and complete.
If you give us an email address, we confirm receipt and tell you our decision and the redress available. We handle reports in a timely, diligent, non-arbitrary and objective manner. We may use automated means, such as rate limits and spam filters, to detect and limit abuse. Reports are assessed by a person unless our decision says otherwise, and each decision states whether automated means were used.
Depending on the case, we may remove or restrict content, limit features, suspend or close accounts, or reclaim Hejj IDs, in proportion to the breach. If we do, and we have your email address, we give the person affected a statement of reasons as required by the EU Digital Services Act, including the facts relied on, the rule or law applied, whether automated means were used, and the redress available, unless the law prevents this. If you think we got it wrong, you can reply to our decision at [email protected] and we will consider your reply. You can also take the matter to court.
Where the law requires or permits it, we report content or activity to the competent authorities, including information suggesting a criminal offence that threatens someone’s life or safety, and preserve related data.
The Service lets you connect third-party services, such as sign-in providers, calendars, Telegram, AI assistants and agents, apps built by independent developers, and business accounts through your own API keys. These services are not provided by us. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and you are responsible for complying with them.
- When you connect a third-party service, you instruct us to exchange data with it on your behalf. Once data reaches that service, we are not responsible for what it does with it.
- You are responsible for actions AI agents and apps take with the access you grant them, including changes they make to your boards. Grant only the access you need, and revoke access you no longer use.
- Only add credentials you are authorized to use, and prefer restricted, read-only keys. If data fetched with them includes personal data about others (for example your customers), you are responsible for having a lawful basis to view it in hejj.
- Data shown in widgets (for example feeds, calendars, holidays, business figures and site status) comes from third parties or from your own settings. It is provided for convenience only, may be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and must not be relied on for financial, medical, legal, safety-critical or other important decisions.
- Reminders and notifications depend on your devices, browsers, networks and third-party delivery services, and may be delayed or not delivered. Don’t rely on them for anything critical.
Subject to section 15, we are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or any loss arising from your use of them, and we may change or stop supporting any integration for valid reasons.
If you build an app, widget, bot or agent that connects to hejj, you also agree that:
- you will follow our developer documentation and limits, and won’t misrepresent who you are or what your app does;
- you are an independent controller of any personal data your app receives, will use data and access only as the user authorized, protect any tokens you receive, and publish a privacy policy that complies with the law if your app handles personal data;
- you won’t send content that is misleading, harmful or tracks users, or try to identify users across apps or connections;
- you will tell us at [email protected] without undue delay about any security incident affecting hejj users or tokens;
- you won’t use the hejj name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse your app, without our written permission; connecting an app to hejj doesn’t mean we endorse it; and
- we may limit, suspend or revoke your app’s access at any time, including to protect users. Our developer interfaces are provided “as is” and may change.
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, sounds and the hejj name and logo, is owned by hejj or its licensors and protected by law. These Terms give you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service as intended. They don’t give you any other rights in it, including to our name or logo.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely without any obligation to you.
If you believe content in the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, email [email protected] with: your contact details; a description of the work and of the content you believe infringes it; where we can find it (for example the Hejj ID involved); a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the rights holder or the law; a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them; and your physical or electronic signature.
If we remove content after a notice, we may tell the user who posted it, who can reply with a counter-notice explaining why they believe it was removed by mistake. We may then restore the content unless the complainant tells us they have started court proceedings. Knowingly false notices or counter-notices may make you liable for damages. We may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Settings.
We may suspend or terminate your access, or remove content, if you break these Terms or the law, if your use creates a security, legal or operational risk or harm for us, other users or third parties, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Our response takes into account the seriousness and circumstances of the breach, and we may act without prior warning. We explain our decisions as described in section 8. We may also end the contract for any other valid reason with reasonable notice.
We may close accounts that have not been signed into for 24 months, after notifying you by email.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination survive it, including “You are responsible for it” in section 5 and sections 11, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 19.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We don’t warrant that the Service will meet your needs, that data will be preserved without loss, or that it will be free of harmful components.
If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law gives you when a digital service is not in conformity with the contract, and this section does not limit them.
If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland
We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under product liability law. For ordinary negligence, we are liable only for breach of an obligation that is essential to the proper performance of these Terms and that you may regularly rely on, and then only for damage that is typical and foreseeable for a free service of this kind. Otherwise, our liability for ordinary negligence is excluded. If data is lost, we are liable only for the effort of restoring it from copies you could reasonably have kept (see “Keep your own copies” in section 5).
Everyone else
To the fullest extent permitted by law, hejj and its operators, contributors and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity, arising from or related to the Service or these Terms, even if we were told they were possible, except in case of intent or gross negligence. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose and 50 euros.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects the rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
If you use the Service for business purposes, or as a developer under section 10, you will defend, indemnify and hold harmless hejj and its operators from third-party claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from Your Content, the apps, agents or bots you build or connect, or your breach of these Terms or of anyone’s rights. If you are a consumer, you are liable to us only as provided by law for damage you culpably cause by breaking these Terms.
We may change these Terms for valid reasons, such as changes in law, new or changed features, security, or preventing abuse. We will tell you about significant changes that affect you, by email or in the app, a reasonable time before they take effect. Where the law requires your agreement, we will ask you to accept the new Terms in the app. You can delete your account at any time before a change takes effect. If you don’t accept a change that requires your agreement, we may end your account with reasonable notice. Editorial changes, and changes only in your favor, take effect when posted.
These Terms and any dispute arising from them or the Service are governed by the laws of Sweden, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a business, disputes are settled exclusively by the Swedish courts, with the Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt) as the court of first instance.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and any right under mandatory law to bring proceedings where you live; otherwise the Swedish courts have jurisdiction.
Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Consumers can also turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, arn.se) or, outside Sweden, to their national consumer body.
- These Terms, together with any feature-specific terms we show you, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and is not part of this contract.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and that part is applied as far as the law allows.
- If we don’t enforce a right, that doesn’t mean we waive it.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer ours, for example as part of a reorganization, merger or sale, provided your rights are not reduced.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- We may send you notices by email to the address on your account or in the app. You can send us notices at [email protected].
- Headings are for convenience only. If we translate these Terms, the English version prevails, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
